During the old times when there are still no written laws, the communities maintain peace and order by doing and holding on to their beliefs and culture. In history, there are many unwritten laws during the ancient times but they were able to manage the whole community. The people act in a way that their culture told them to do. There were also elders that oversee the activities of the community. The behavior of the people was in accordance to the established pattern of behavior that their culture has brought. These behaviors are called the customs. In today’s time, there are still customary laws that exist. They are like norms that manipulate the way of thinking and acts of the people. Customary laws are still prevalent because people believe that there are benefits if they behave in ways accepted by the society. It is like a mutual behavior of citizens. (more…)

In general, criminal law is about crimes. We define crimes as the acts that threaten to disturb the peace and order in the society.
